Here is a “million dollar” tip when going to fast food restaurants. The nutrition information is usually non-existent unless you ask and then…well…good luck.

We all know that apples, oranges, grapes are incredibly more nutritious than the fries, onion rings and tots. We also ALREADY KNOW that milk has better nutrition than sodas. No rocket science here yet, right?

Now, do you want to get the best nutrition and save lots of money at the same time? Ok, I’ll help you with the hard questions - YES.

Here is the tip of the month - order the kids meal BUT substitute the “fruit cup” or what ever the specific restaurant is offering for fruit. Also, order the milk (white or chocolate, usually 1%) and a cup of water.

Did you get this? This is a mega tip for nutrition and saving a lot of money. I typically go to these places during lunch time. You have the choice of the usual fried, breaded, mega-calorie burgers and chicken. Just say NO.

The kid’s meal is typically one-half of the price of the regular “combo” meals. Also, if most of you are sitting at a desk in front of a computer all day, this is enough food! Trust me on this point. Grab a banana from your house for the mid afternoon slump if you start to get hungry.

What difference will this make? From the money side, about $3/day savings, over a year is $3,000!

From the health standpoint, one third to one half of the calories and a great start to getting back in shape and staying there.

This works. It saves money and your waistline. Tell your friends about this article and use the savings to go on a nice trip!
